Help
This FAQ section describes the GMS web site
functionality and the data displayed within the various web pages.
What does the first page after login show?
After login, you will see an overview of your personal settings, your
personal Warning Color threshold values with the corresponding color
coding, the logout link and a list of the GMS projects you have
subscribed to. You can these settings by left clicking on the
appropriate link and selecting the “Save Changes” Button ( you cannot
change the warning threshold values in the demo project) . You can view
the GMS project page by selecting the “Show Wind Farms” link on the left
hand side of the page.
How do I change my personal settings?
Click on the link “Change Personal Settings” and enter your data into
the input fields. Do not forget to save your changes clicking on the
“Save changes” button.
What do the warning colors mean and how can the wind speed threshold
values be changed?
The warning colors indicate customer defined threshold wind speed values
for yellow and red warning flags, which are shown on the main GMS pages.
Hourly forecast wind velocity conditions that exceed the threshold
values are easily identified with the help of these colored flags. Click
on the link “Change Warning Thresholds” to alter the wind speed
threshold values of the color coding (this feature is not available for
the demo project). Do not forget to save your changes clicking on the
“Save changes” button.
How do I show the meteorological forecasts for my subscribed GMS
projects?
To display the current meteorological conditions at the project site as
well as the short and long term forecasts simply click on the link
“Show” on the right-hand side of each GMS project.
I have subscribed to GMS BASIC WEATHER – what information will be
displayed on the page?
As a subscriber to a GMS BASIC WEATHER project, you will be able to
access the current meteorological conditions at your project site as
well as the detailed hourly forecast for the next 48 hour period and a
general, 5 day weather forecast. The data are displayed in tabular
format using intuitive symbols and icons. The following data is
displayed in top-down order:
- Location Name and GMS Project. The meteorological forecasts displayed
in the web page refer to this project location.
- Current meteorological conditions at the project area. Existing cloud
cover, weather condition and temperature are show at the top, left hand
side of the page. In the central section of the page, the wind direction
and wind velocity, wind gusts, apparent air temperature, relative humidity,
precipitation and time of the last data update are shown.
- Use the “Upload a new Image” link to upload an image of the wind farm.
The image has to be in jpg format and the file size should not exceed 5
MB..
- Detailed hourly forecast for the project site. This table provides an
hourly forecast for the site and at 10m, 60m and 120m a.gl. as well as
animated turbine icons highlighting the wind velocity at 60 and 120m a.g.l.
Left click on the “-> Next 24 Hour Period” button to access the detailed
forecast for the next 24 to 48 hour period. You can select the -> Previous
24 Hour Period link to go back.
- Display of the critical wind speed threshold values and corresponding
color coding. The critical wind speed threshold values can be changed on
this page (this feature not available in demo project).
- Display of the 5 day forecast for the project site. Forecast day, cloud
coverage, maximum and minimum air temperature as well as maximum and
minimum wind velocity at 10m a.g.l. are shown.
I have subscribed to GMS PREMIUM WEATHER – what information will be
displayed on the website?
In addition to the data displayed for a GMS BASIC WEATHER project , you
will be able to see an interactive map below the 5 day forecast section
showing the wind farm project area. A slider enables the user to select the
forecast hour, triggering the corresponding forecast wind conditions to be
displayed on the map. Use the “Zoom In”, “Zoom Out”, “Pan” and “Full Extent”
buttons to navigate within the map. Users can select individual locations
within the map and the corresponding meteorological information will be
displayed in the upper part of the page. Click on the “Select Location”
button and then click on a specific map position. You can also adjust the
display characteristics of the interactive map by fading and unfading
layers by successive clicks of the fade buttons located to the right of the

Detailed hourly yield forecast for each wind turbine in the wind farm. The
first table provides a yield summary for the entire wind farm in MWh and a
yield graph which provides a quick yield comparison. The following tables
highlight the forecast yield, wind speed and wind direction for each turbine
within the wind farm. Users can toggle between the current and next 24 hour
period by clicking on the orange “-> Next or Previous 24 Hour Period” link
located below the yield tables.
- In addition to the information
displayed for a GMS PREMIUM project, you will be able to see an interactive
map below the tabular yield forecast section showing the wind farm project
site and the hourly wind conditions . A slider enables the user to select the
forecast hour, triggering the corresponding forecast wind conditions to be
displayed on the map (from the present to 48 hours in the future). Use the
“Zoom In”, “Zoom Out”, “Pan” and “Full Extent” buttons to navigate within the
